One of my favorite chefs, Mike Klubnika, serves up another plate of psychological horror. A truly gourmet gaming experience: not a large portion, but a unique flavor.

The game

Alex, a hacker holed up in a room full of terminals and nihilism, finds himself attacking a paramilitary organization using an old server, kindly handed over by one of his two accomplices.
The device to destroy? A machine that processes, tortures, imprisons.
There’s something strangely familiar in the anxiety of breaking into a system you don’t fully understand.

We end up reliving a classic Sunday of mine, where — after inhaling cup after cup of coffee — I accidentally trigger a panic attack while deciding to write programs of questionable quality (and usefulness):

  • The constant fear of getting caught.
  • Intrusive thoughts to keep in check.
  • Soundtrack and atmosphere spawned from Orwell’s worst lucid dream.

Recommended.

The author

Mike Klubnika is a master at shaping dystopian worlds.
Each of his creations is a broken dream: liminal, unsettling, and punk.

I highly recommend visiting his website to explore his other works.
