The Game

An endless supply of nicotine and a frying pan.
Nothing else is needed. I’m already convinced that this is the right place.

I’ve discovered some new popular recipes:

• egg and three cigarettes
• egg, bullets and pufferfish
• egg, sardines and gin lemon
• egg and cockroaches

The hens here don’t roam: they print eggs as if they were cosmic decrees, delivering to every inhabitant the same burning question:

Can you fry an egg on top of Mount Everest?

This dilemma eventually becomes the very essence of the egg itself: a rigid shell holding everything that cannot be explained.
The answer comes closer only by cooking for anyone who looks at me with eyes that say, “I’ve run out of meaning and I need an omelette.”

Is it all an allegory for some order older than hunger itself?
A twist of absurdism clinging to the idea that an egg might save us from the cold?
